PROGRAM INFORMATION
The Ability Works (AW) and the Youth Employment Skills Strategy (YESS) are programs offered by the Valley Community Learning Association (VCLA), which provide a range of activities to help participants develop the skills and gain the experience they need to find and keep quality jobs.
VCLA offers eligible participants educational upgrading, skill building, employment readiness and work-training. This includes supporting participants to complete their high school education or the new Canadian Adult Education Credential (CAEC), as needed. (CAEC is the new high school equivalency program that replace the GED in Fall 2024).
Participants receive a modest training allowance while in training and have access to a wage subsidy when on job placement.
The Ability Works program supports adults living with disabilities to help them prepare for, obtain and keep employment or to become self-employed.
The Youth Employment Skills Strategy (YESS) program serves youth between the ages of 15 and 30 years old who are facing multiple barriers to employment.
VCLA recognizes that each individual is unique, and we embrace a flexible approach with a pathway to success tailored to each individual. We help participants gain the skills, experiences and confidence they need to get good-quality jobs.
To help us find individuals that fit with our programs we will ask you to complete a referral form with as much information as possible.
