Literacy Mile

The Literacy Mile is an opportunity to raise awareness of and support for the literacy needs of Annapolis Valley residents. Typically held the first Saturday in May, there are hot dogs and refreshments for sale, live music, a silent auction, and activites for the whole family. All proceeds raised go toward supporting local literacy and English as an additional language programming.

The 13th  annual Literacy Mile promotional and fundraising event will be held Saturday, May 13, 2017, from 1-3pm, outside our Kentville offices at 49 Commercial Street in Kentville.

In the months leading up to the event, look for the Literacy Mile sneakers as they make their way through the Valley building the 'Mile'.

The Literacy Mile is also a time when we honour the achievements of our learners. Each year we present the William and Lucille Owen Award to two learners for outstanding achievement. In the photo below, Paul O'Brien says a few words after receiving the award in 2012.
