The 2010 Literacy Mile was held in Wolfville. Starting at Festival Theatre, following the Provincial Learner Celebration, ‘the Mile’ was kicked off by MC Darren Harvey. Suann Morrow, VCLA Vice President announced the winners of the William and Lucille Owen award (Joung Lee and Tania Sproule). Outgoing President, Debra Reimer, was acknowledged (by Lisa Hammett Vaughan) for her contribution to the organization over several years, and the walk for literacy began.
Joining the walk were learners and their supporters from all over Nova Scotia.
The walk was followed by a BBQ (at the Wolfville Curling Club) and a silent auction at the Festival Theatre.
VCLA would like to thank the many, many volunteers who gave freely of their time to make this year’s fundraising and promotional event a success.
